Help Us Meet the Norcliffe Challenge!

Engineering1

The Norcliffe Foundation, a local family foundation, has provided a challenge match as a way to increase our Program Endowment for Children and Teens. If we can raise $3.5 million by the end of the year, they will donate an additional $1 million to help fund the many children’s programs the Library offers.

We have been hard at work to meet this challenge and I am delighted to report that we’ve made incredible progress!  The total amount raised now stands at $3.25 million, leaving $250,000 to go by December 31, 2016.

This is really good news, but our work is far from over.

Completing this challenge is critical for our future.  It will give the Library stable, predictable funding for children’s learning programs year after year.  These funds enhance basic city funds so that more kids, especially those who need it most, are reached and supported.  Here’s how the funds provided by the endowment will be put to use:

  • Continue proven, high-impact programs that reach thousands of children in the community every year, ranging from early learning programs to initiatives that support academic success.
  • Ensure funding for staff specialists in early literacy, formal, and informal learning who develop and implement programs offered across the city.
  • Design and develop new programs that allow the Library to offer activities that encourage the skills children need to succeed in school and in the workplace.
